In this recently published MoZEES article the energy consumption of a hydrogen powered high-speed ferry route has been analyzed using power-speed characteristics and historical route positional data (AIS). The results were used to dimension the power and energy storage systems. A comparison of the costs of operation with conventional diesel, including a sensitivity analysis and a future cost scenario, showed that even with moderate cost reductions it should reach cost parity with diesel sometime between 2025-2030.
