Aging and lifetime prediction of lithium-ion batteries

Moritz Teuber

In todays push towards electrification and renewable energies, lithium-ion batteries represent the cutting-edge technology in advancing the transition to a ecoconscious society. The lifetime of the battery needs to be understood precisely for reliable system design, high safety standards, and lastly low life cycle costs. This talk will describe the aging behavior of lithium-ion batteries dependent on the operating conditions and the implications for possible applications. Furthermore, a focus will be given to lifetime prediction based on statistical analysis of measurements and background knowledge about the physical deterioration phenomena. The impact on battery systems for e.g. automotive applications will be discussed
